Blantyre Steal a Draw in Injury Time!

Ashfield have dropped 2 points after conceding what can only be described as a last gasp effort from Blantyre. This is a game which Ashfield dominated until the last minute of injury time when a goal was conceded uncharacteristically from a corner kick. Dominating the match Ashfield went at Blantyre from the first whistle doing everything but score, including from the spot!!! Eventually Tony Chalmers struck from the spot, at the second Ashfield penalty attempt, to give the field the lead. The score remained this way until the 92nd minute when Justin Longmuir scored for the visitors against the run of play.

Ashfield v Lanark United

Lanark United come away with the spoils in a game which was end to end stuff. Arguably the best two teams in the division locked horns at Saracen Park in an encounter not for the faint of heart, with both sides creating some very good chances. It was Lanark in the end that came away with the points after an error in the Ashfield defence allowed the Lanark striker to race clear and finish low into the net. Final score Ashfield 0 - 1 Lanark United.

Stalemate at Saracen

Gaynor Hits a Double

Ashfield Knocked out of the Scottish!!

Ashfield were today knocked out of the Scottish Cup in a tightly contested match, which was taken out of distance by the Superleague leaders in the final ten minutes. After going 2-0 down Ashfield scored from the spot through Darren O'Donnell to peg the visitors back and continued to put Lochee under a great deal of pressure resulting in the Lochee Goalkeeper making a couple of crucial saves. The game was put out of sight by a magnificent Lochee free-kick which was fit to win any game! Lochee again broke to kill the game off and claim their place in the next round with a final score of 4-1. Manager Stevie Rankin remained upbeat an insisted that his players had again proved that they compete on a much higher level and that the score line did not reflect on the actual match.

Change to Kick Off Time

Ashfield's match with Yoker Athletic at Holm Park on Saturday will now Kick Off at 1.45pm and not 2.00pm as earlier advertised.

Ashfield to visit Holm Park

Yoker Athletic await Ashfield on Saturday at Holm Park. Both sides played earlier in this years league cup at the same venue where Ashfield came out on top. The Ashfield coaching staff have dismissed their earlier victory this season and are adamant that a tough test awaits them this weekend. The match has been scheduled for a 2.00pm K.O.

Ashfield back on Track!!

Ashfield bounced back from last weeks defeat to take all three points at Saracen Park on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Larkhall Thistle. Goals from Tony Chalmers and Darren O'Donnell gave Ashfield the points but if it wasn't for some good goalkeeping and heroic defending Ashfield could have scored more goals. A very good performance in what was always regarded as a tough fixture.

Ashfield Draw Lochee United in the Scottish Cup

Ashfield have been handed a tough task in the third round of the City Link Scottish Junior Cup. They have been drawn against Ray McKinnon's Lochee United in a home fixture. The Ashfield management and players are said to be delighted with the draw and the chance of taking another big scalp in the form of East Region Superleague Leaders.

Details of this fixture will follow shortly!!!

The Field await Larkhall Thistle

Ashfield’s next opponents will be Larkhall Thistle in the Stagecoach Central District League Division 1. The match will be played at Saracen Park with a 1.00pm K.O.

Ashfield Defeated at Cumbernauld

A series of mistakes and poor defending cost Ashfield a vital three points at Cumbernauld United on Saturday. The field suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Dennis Curran’s men. That loss moves Ashfield down into third position in the league.

Tough test at Cumbernauld

Ashfield’s next league match will be at Cumbernauld United who recently appointed Dennis Curren as Boss. With both clubs just four points apart, this looks like an extremely exciting contest and I am sure lots of good football will be played.

Ashfield Progress to the next Round

Ashfield today sealed their place in the third round of the Scottish Junior Cup with a 4-1 victory against a resilient Shettleston side who battled for the full ninety minutes. Goals scored by James McKnight, Darren O'Donnell, Toe Tartaglia and Davie Gumley sealed the win in a game which was played in good spirits and was allowed to flow by the Referee who put in an excellent performance.

Scottish Cup Weekend at Saracen Park

Ashfield take a break from League business when they welcome Shettleston to Saracen Park on Saturday for what should be another epic encounter between the two sides. Ashfield manager Stevie Rankin expects a tough match for his side and is adamant that his players will have to be at their best to see off a strong Shettleston team.

Saturday 3rd November

Kick Off 2pm Saracen Park

Ashfield take the Points at Dunipace

A terrific Tony Chalmers performance and two superb goals from Paul Maxwell and Gordon Passmore took Ashfield second top of the Stagecoach Central District League First Division. The first was a superb football move which Maxwell clinically finished and the second was a strike which was fit to win any game from Passmore. Ashfield gaffer Stevie Rankin was delighted with the victory in what was a very testing fixture.

3 Points Up For Grabs at Dunipace

Ashfield will next take to the field at Dunipace this Saturday in the Stagecoach Central District League Division 1. The field will be looking to get over the West defeat to Beith by taking all three points and continuing their excellent league form this season.

Ashfield have drawn last season’s adversaries Shettleston in this year’s Scottish Cup Second Round.

Match Details

3rd September 2007 - Saracen Park - 2.00pm K.O

Hard day at Beith

A brave but injury stricken Ashfield went down 3-1 to an excellent Beith side managed by Ex-Arthurlie man Frankie Lynch. A promising start for Ashfield, who should have taken the lead after a couple of glorious chances, was dwindled out after the departure of Stevie Martin with a serious groin injury. Although Ashfield were defiant throughout, Beith took a well deserved victory and booked their place in the next round. We wish them luck.

Ashfield take on Premier opposition

Ashfield with will tomorrow take on Beith Juniors who lead the Premier League Table. It will be Ashfields second time in consecutive seasons to be facing this calibre of opposition at this stage of the West. Last season resulted in Pollok being knocked out at Saracen Park.

Narrow defeat at Port Glasgow

Ashfield were narrowly defeated 1-0 after a number of calamitous refereeing decisions which saw 3 Ashfield players red carded and two penalties awarded against the team. Ashfield goalie Stevie McGovern saved one penalty and was very unlucky with the other but was unable to stop Port Glasgow taking all 3 points. A sad end to a game for Ashfield, not only for the result, but for three red cards in a game which did not have a bad challenge in 90 minutes. A good match spoiled by a referee who thought himself to be the most important man on the pitch.

Port Glasgow up Next

The Fields next opponents will be League Cup runners-up Port Glasgow in an away fixture. A tough fixture is expected by all as the Port have showed consistent for over the last couple of seasons.

Ashfield put the Bens to the Sword

Ashfield produced another convincing performance today as they out played Benburb for long periods of the match. Unable to break down the Bens defence in the first half, the field showed real patience in their play and were deadly in their finishing when the opportunities came. A convincing 2-0 victory for the field.

Bens next up at Saracen Park

Next up for Ashfield is the visit of Benburb to Saracen Park. The Bens were also promotion winners last season finishing in third place after a hard fought second division season.

Ashfield gain hard fought victory at the Candy

Ashfield continued with their good start to the season with a hard fought 3-0 victory. St Roch's provided difficult opposition for the field in the first half but were unable to shackle a resilient Ashfield side that rounded off the day with a brilliant Davie Gumley goal late on in the match.

Ashfield visit the Candy

Ashfield will next visit neighbours St Roch's in the Stagecoach Central District League, Division 1. Last years fixtures resulted in both sides taking away wins, with Ashfield scoring seven goals at Provanmill Park. This should be another extremely difficult game for both sides.

Ashfield Continue With Unbeaten Run

Ashfield continued with their unbeaten run today with a fiercely contested scoring draw against Rutherglen Glencairn at Saracen Park today. Glencairn, containing ex-Ashfield players Scott McArthur, Paul McDougal and Stephen McGladrigan were unable to defeat Ashfield on this occasion due to a Mark Thomson Free-kick. This clash also brought the ex-Ashfield Management team of Stevie Rankin and Willie Paterson head to head for the first time since Paterson’s exit to take up the job at Glencairn. After a share of the spoils both managers felt that the draw was a fair reflection on the game although both were disappointed with the ten bookings made by the referee in a fiercely contested but sporting match.

Victory at Castle Park

Ashfield recorded their first win of the season with an excellent 5-2 victory over Blantyre Victoria today at Castle Park. Goals from Paul Maxwell, Joe Tartaglia, Tony Chalmers and Michael Tolland secured all three points for Stevie Rankins men.

All Square at Saracen Park

The opening league encounter with St Anthony's finished in a scoreless draw. Both sides had opportunities to score with Ashfield being on top for most of the match.
